Aubrey a laid-back family-oriented town that has earned the reputation of being “Horse Country, USA”. It is located approximately 45 miles north of Dallas, and 12 miles from the City of Denton, in Denton County.
Aubrey, and the area immediately south, is growing rapidly, with new developments of single-family homes and supporting retail. As a result, the town has become better self-contained. There is an established Aubrey 380 Area Chamber of Commerce that proudly supports the communities of Aubrey, Cross Roads, Krugerville, Oak Point, and Providence Village.
Education
Aubrey Independent School District is a progressive and academically recognized school district focused on student achievement. The district has one high school, one middle school, two elementary schools, and a pre-K. There is also a daycare center serving the areas of Providence, Krugerville, Cross Roads, and Aubrey.

Aubrey has the nickname “Horse Country, USA” for good reason. With mild winters and rich sandy soil, the area provides perfect conditions for training and working horses.
There are trails for riding and Aubrey is just minutes from Lake Ray Roberts and Lake Lewisville, offering boating and water sports.
Horse Country, USA
This area has one of the largest concentrations of horse farms in the United States and covers an area in Denton County, north of Hwy 380, that extends north almost to the Oklahoma State line.
North Texas horse country offers an extremely diverse mixture of breeds but is famous for Quarter Horses. It is estimated to have over 30,000 horses
You will also find Thoroughbreds, Paints, Arabians, Appaloosas, Warmbloods, and world champion horses in cutting, halter, western pleasure, reining, and many other disciplines.
The industry has made a huge economic impact on North Central Texas and supports large breeding farms, training facilities, suppliers, and product specialists that also attract professional horsemen.
Shopping
Shopping in Aubrey is limited, but it’s only a few miles south to a Walmart Center in Crossroads. Also, further southeast is Frisco with mega-retail options. As the area grows with single-family developments, the
supporting retail continues to grow as well.
